A 10K temperature sensor, also known as a thermistor, is a form of resistor that alters its resistance value in correspondence with temperature variations. The term “10K” denotes its resistance value at 25°C, which stands at 10,000 ohms. Thermistors find frequent application in temperature sensing and control tasks due to their heightened sensitivity and swift response time. They are often favored over alternative temperature sensors like thermocouples and RTDs because they are smaller in size, more economical, and simpler to employ. Two primary types of thermistors exist: negative temperature coefficient (NTC) and positive temperature coefficient (PTC). NTC thermistors exhibit a resistance decrease with rising temperatures, while PTC thermistors experience an increase in resistance with temperature escalation.
Thermistors serve as budget-friendly, readily available temperature sensors. They boast user-friendly characteristics and versatility. Circuits employing thermistors can yield reasonable output voltages, in contrast to the millivolt outputs characteristic of thermocouples. Thanks to these attributes, thermistors see widespread application in basic temperature measurement tasks. While they aren’t suitable for elevated temperatures, within their operational temperature ranges, they find extensive use.
Also check 10K Thermistor Temperature Sensor Module(3 Pin) available on our website. This temperature sensor module is sensitive to ambient temperature and is commonly used to detect the temperature of the surrounding environment. It features a working voltage of 3.3V-5V and uses the LM393 comparator for voltage comparison. The output format is digital switching output (0 and 1), and it has a temperature detection range of 20 to 80 degrees Celsius.
Also check 10K Thermistor Temperature Sensor Module(4 Pin). The module is small and low-cost. It can be used to detect the temperature of the surrounding environment.
