The 18650 lithium cell insulating adhesive ring pad prevents accidental short circuits at the positive terminal of an 18650 cell during battery pack assembly. The positive terminal of an 18650 cell is a raised button surrounded by a small gap where the cell casing, which is negative, sits close to the positive cap. During spot welding and pack assembly, nickel strip tabs and tools can bridge this gap and short the cell if the terminal edge is unprotected. The insulating ring pad sticks over the positive terminal edge, covering the exposed gap between positive cap and negative casing with heat-resistant insulating paper.
The lithium cell ring pad 20mm outer diameter covers the full positive terminal area of a standard 18650 cell while the 10mm inner diameter keeps the positive contact point exposed for the nickel strip connection. Adhesive backing holds the ring in place during handling and welding without slipping. The insulation paper ring 0.25mm thickness adds no meaningful height to the pack geometry.
