Description

The GY-MAX4466 Electret Microphone Sensor Module amplifies weak electret microphone signals using the MAX4466 op-amp at a fixed gain of 20dB. The microphone amplifier max4466 runs on 2.4V to 5.5V and draws only 24µA, which makes it practical for battery-operated audio sensing builds. Output goes to any ADC pin and the signal is centred around VCC divided by two for clean bipolar reading.

The max4466 microphone sensor has a gain bandwidth product of 600kHz. A non-obvious detail is that the gain on this module is fixed at 20dB from the factory on most board versions, so you cannot adjust amplification without modifying the feedback resistor. For louder environments where 20dB causes clipping, you need a different module. The max4466 sound sensor also picks up power supply noise above 5.5V, so clean regulated power matters.

Voice detection makers, and sound-activated project builders use the max4466 mic module with Arduino IDE analogRead or MicroPython ADC. StemVolt provide this module ready to connect on any ADC-capable board.
