3dBi Dual-Band WiFi Antenna SMA Male

The 3dBi Dual-Band WiFi Antenna SMA Male radiates and receives signals on two separate frequency ranges from one physical antenna element — 2.4GHz for longer range and 5GHz for higher throughput. The 3dBi Dual-Band WiFi Antenna provides 3dBi of gain across both bands, which doubles the effective radiated power compared to a theoretical isotropic radiator in the antenna’s preferred direction. That gain translates to improved signal at the edge of the coverage area compared to a zero-gain PCB trace antenna on the device itself.

The WiFi Antenna connects through an SMA male connector at the end of a 3 metre RG174 coaxial cable. That cable length allows the antenna to be positioned away from the device housing — on a wall, elevated above a work surface, or outside a metal enclosure that would otherwise block the RF signal. RG174 is a thin 50 ohm coaxial cable suitable for low-power antenna runs at these frequencies. One practical consideration — RG174 has relatively high signal attenuation per metre compared to thicker coaxial types.

At 3 metres on 5GHz, the cable loss is measurable and partially offsets the 3dBi antenna gain. For 5GHz builds where cable loss matters, keeping the run as short as practical improves link performance.
