DRV8833 2 Channel Motor Driver Module

The DRV8833 2 channel motor driver module is a dual H-bridge motor driver IC designed specifically for low-voltage motor applications where the TB6612FNG and L298N operate outside their efficient range. The DRV8833 Module starts working from 2.7V – low enough to drive motors directly from a single Li-Ion cell at 3.7V nominal without a boost converter between the battery and driver. Two independent H-bridge channels each handle 1.2A continuous with a 2A peak that covers the startup inrush current brushed DC motors draw before reaching steady-state rotation speed.

The drv8833 motor driver module compact PCB size fits inside miniature robot chassis, where larger driver boards physically do not fit alongside the battery and controller board. At 10.8V maximum supply, the module covers LiPo 2S packs at 8.4V and standard 9V battery, but is not rated for 12V operation planning 12V should confirm the supply stays within the 10.8V maximum under load.

The DRV8833 IC includes built-in overcurrent protection and thermal shutdown, which reduce the risk of permanent driver damage during motor stall events or wiring errors during development.
