This touch sensor module’s 4mA current draw is notably low for an active sensing component — low enough to run continuously from a small coin cell or LiPo battery for extended periods without meaningful battery drain, making it a practical choice for portable and battery-powered touch interfaces.

The capacitive touch sensor module detects touch through electric field disturbance rather than physical contact pressure — the sensor’s electric field extends slightly above the pad surface, which means this ttp223b touch sensor can detect a finger touch even through a thin layer of non-conductive material like acrylic sheeting, paint, or a thin plastic enclosure wall placed over the pad, enabling hidden or embedded touch points with no visible opening in the enclosure.
