The breadboard shield eliminates the need for a separate breadboard, jumper wire set, and external power connection during arduino uno projects — all power rails are pre-connected to the Arduino’s supply pins and available at clearly labelled pads next to the breadboard.

The 170-point breadboard provides enough space to build standard sensor circuits, voltage dividers, LED drivers, and transistor switching circuits directly above the Arduino board in a single compact 65mm x 55mm x 20mm footprint. One practical trade-off: 170 points is sufficient for simple single-IC circuits and sensor modules but not for larger circuits with multiple ICs and many passives.

For more complex builds, a full 830-point breadboard alongside the Arduino remains the better option. The non-obvious advantage of this arduino uno shield board format is signal routing — component leads insert directly into the breadboard rows, and jumper wires run directly from the breadboard to the Arduino pin headers below, eliminating the longer jumper runs that come with a separate breadboard layout.
