Description

The DC 12V Door Cabinet Lock Electric Lock Assembly Solenoid releases its spring-loaded plunger when 12V DC is applied, unlocking the door or cabinet within 1 second. Remove power and the plunger retracts to lock automatically without any mechanical key. The 12v electronic door lock draws 0.8A at 9.6W power consumption and delivers 2.45N of holding force, which keeps lightweight cabinet doors closed firmly against accidental contact.

The electromagnetic solenoid lock is rated for intermittent operation only. Running it energised for more than a few seconds at a time at 9.6W heats the iron metal coil housing and degrades winding insulation over repeated cycles. A solenoid electric lock detail is that the 2.45N holding force is measured when the plunger is fully retracted at the locked position. As the plunger starts to extend toward unlocked, the electromagnetic force drops sharply because the air gap between the plunger and the core increases cabinet door lock.

This means the door must be pulled open within the 1 second unlock window while the plunger is still partially retracted for the full 2.45N release to function correctly. Also add a flyback diode across the coil wires to protect relay contacts from back-EMF on power-off events.
