The ultrasonic sensor module jsn-sr04t separates the sensing head from the control PCB with an approximately 2.5 metre cable, so you can mount the probe near water while keeping your electronics dry. It operates at 5V DC, measures from 25cm to 4.5 meters, and resolves distance to 0.5 cm. The trigger and echo pins match the standard HC-SR04 pin interface.
A non-obvious detail about the jsn-sr04t waterproof sensor is that the minimum range is 25cm, not zero. Objects closer than 25cm fall inside the blind zone and return no valid reading. The honest trade-off is response time. The static current draw is just 5mA, but the sensor needs a clear unobstructed line-of-sight path. Foam surfaces, loose soil, and soft materials absorb sound poorly, which reduces effective range compared to hard flat surfaces.
