The P31 Mini Float Control Switch is a compact mechanical water level sensor that detects water height using a floating ball connected to an internal switch. As water rises or falls, the float tilts and opens or closes the contact inside. Float control switches like this work without any electronics or power supply on the sensing side, which makes them far simpler to wire than ultrasonic alternatives.
The P31 float switch handles a maximum switching voltage of 220V and a current of 0.5A, with a contact rating of 10W. One thing many users miss is that contact resistance at 100 mΩ can cause a small voltage drop when switching inductive loads like pump motors, so using a relay in between is the safer choice for motor circuits. The mini float control switch is not rated for submersible continuous operation.
Students and small automation engineers use this mini water level sensor for tank overflow protection and pump control. StemVolt provide this ready to use sensor. Connect the two leads to your relay input and set your tank level by adjusting the float position.
