The TCRT5000 Reflective IR Optical Sensor is a photoelectric switch component integrating an infrared LED emitter and a phototransistor detector in a single compact housing, sensing reflective surfaces within a 12mm range at 3.3V to 5V DC and 60mA operating current. The tcrt5000 ir reflective optical sensor outputs the detected signal through the phototransistor collector-emitter path — the phototransistor conducts more heavily as reflected IR intensity increases, producing an analog current change proportional to target reflectivity that downstream circuitry converts to a usable voltage or digital signal.

The tcrt5000 ir reflex tracking sensor component specifications include a 70V collector-emitter breakdown voltage and 100mA maximum collector current — ratings that allow the phototransistor output to directly drive low-current indicator LEDs and logic-level transistor switches without an intermediate op-amp stage.
