The HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor is the most widely used distance measuring sensor module in Arduino builds worldwide, measuring distances from 2cm to 450cm using 40kHz ultrasonic sound pulses with a 15° beam angle, operating at 5V DC with a peak current of 15mA and an average current of only 2mA during normal operation. The hc sr04 ultrasonic sensor communicates through two pins — Trig and Echo — sending a 10-microsecond HIGH pulse on Trig triggers the ultrasonic sensor hc sr04 to emit an 8-cycle 40kHz burst, and the Echo pin then goes HIGH for a duration proportional to the round-trip travel time of the sound pulse.
