ZMCT103C 5A Single-Phase AC Current Measurement Module

The ZMCT103C 5A single-phase ac current measurement module measures the current flowing through an ac conductor using transformer-based isolation – the ac wire passes through the transformer core on the module, and the transformer secondary produces a small proportional current that the microcontroller measures safely without any direct electrical connection to the mains circuit. This isolated measurement approach is the standard safe method for measuring ac current in microcontroller-based energy monitoring.

The zmct103c current transformer module transformation ratio of 5A to 5mA – backed by a 1000:1 transformer turns ratio means that when 5A AC flows through the primary wire, 5mA flows in the secondary circuit connected to the measurement electronics. That 5mA signal feeds into a burden resistor and op-amp conditioning circuit on the module, producing an analog voltage proportional to the AC current that an Arduino ADC reads. Lower currents produce proportionally smaller output voltages – 2.5A produces approximately half the output of 5A, allowing the full 0 to 5A range to be resolved across the ADC input range.
