SCT-013 100A Non-Invasive AC Current Sensor

The SCT-013 100A Non-Invasive AC Current Sensor, dielectric strength rating of 6000VAC for one minute confirms the insulation between the primary conductor and secondary output withstands high-voltage isolation testing — important when the sensor clamps around mains cables where the insulation failure would expose the measurement circuit to mains potential. Frequency response covers 50Hz to 150kHz, making the sct 013 split core current sensor suitable for both standard 50Hz  mains measurement and higher-frequency switching current monitoring.

The 3.5mm output plug mates with breakout modules designed for this sensor family, which typically include a burden resistor and voltage divider to bias the output into the ADC input range. A split-core current transformer clamps around an existing conductor without cutting or interrupting the circuit. The magnetic core splits open, wraps around the live wire, closes back, and measures the magnetic field the AC current produces.

That field induces a proportional current in the secondary winding — the sct-013-000 current sensor scales 100A of primary AC current down to 50mA at the secondary output, giving a safe low-current signal that a microcontroller circuit can read through a burden resistor and ADC without direct contact to mains voltage.
