What are LEDs and Lights?
LEDs are Light Emitting Diodes that produce light when current flows through them in the forward direction. They are more energy-efficient than traditional bulbs and available in many colours, sizes, and package types. A dip led light is the standard through-hole type that fits directly into breadboards. A common example in Indian college projects is using red green LED indicators on a traffic light simulation build controlled by an Arduino timer to practise digital output programming.

How to Choose the Right LEDs and Lights
Choose based on your circuit output type and application. For digital output indicator builds on breadboard, standard 5mm DIP LEDs with a 220 ohm current-limiting resistor are the simplest starting choice. For colour mixing and RGB status indicators, a common-cathode RGB LED gives three-colour control from three PWM pins on Arduino. For sensing and measurement builds, a laser module provides a focused beam that a simple LED cannot replicate. One practical tip: always calculate and add a current-limiting resistor for every LED in your circuit, as connecting an LED directly to Arduino's 5V output without a resistor will burn the LED and can permanently damage the GPIO pin.
