The mini laser dot module projects a single focused point rather than a line, making it the basic dot-beam counterpart to cylindrical-lens line laser modules used for pointing, targeting, and alignment reference applications.

The laser dot module connects with just two wires from the 120mm lead — positive and negative — and at 5V DC with 40mA draw, most Arduino digital pins can switch this module on and off directly through a small NPN transistor for reliable switching, since the current exceeds typical safe direct GPIO sourcing limits. The dot laser 5mW output places it in Class IIIa — visible and bright but requiring caution around direct eye exposure.
