The Corrosion-Resistance Soil Moisture Sensor Module measures soil water content by detecting electrical resistance (how easily current flows) between two probe pins buried in soil. Wet soil conducts more current. The moisture sensor output changes based on how moist the soil is, giving you a live reading at all times. A dual output type means the module sends both an analog voltage to your ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) pin and a digital signal for simple dry or wet detection.
The soil moisture sensor module runs on 3.3V to 5V DC and draws only 15mA current, which is low enough for battery-powered builds. The probe material is corrosion-resistant metal, which is a real advantage over standard bare copper probes that rust and lose accuracy. The limitation is that this remains a resistive sensor (measuring resistance, not capacitance), so heavy clay soils or high-salt soil can affect reading accuracy over time.
