The Flame and Fire Sensor Module is a 3-pin infrared flame detection sensor with a 0 to 60° detection angle, operating from 3.3V to 5V DC within -25°C to 80°C ambient temperature. The 3 pin flame sensor layout (VCC, GND, and a single digital output) is the simplest wiring arrangement of any flame sensor module in the range — unlike 4-pin variants with separate AO and DO outputs, this module provides one digital threshold output, making it the most beginner-friendly entry point for fire sensor arduino projects.

The flame and fire sensor uses infrared detection to identify flame radiation — the IR phototransistor responds to the specific infrared wavelengths emitted by flames and fire, transitioning the digital output when flame radiation within the 0-60° detection cone exceeds the sensitivity threshold. The 60° cone angle is slightly wider than some 50-degree single-sensor alternatives, providing a modestly larger coverage area without the wiring complexity of the 5-channel multi-sensor board. Per the flame sensor datasheet, the fire detector sensor’s -25°C to 80°C operating range suits both indoor and moderately cold outdoor deployments.

the 3-pin digital-only output means this flame sensor module cannot provide analog flame intensity readings — only a binary “flame detected / not detected” signal, which limits its use for projects needing graduated proximity or intensity information.
