The Eye Blink Detection IR Sensor Module detects when a person blinks by using an IR (Infrared) emitter and receiver pair mounted inside wearable goggles. When the eyelid closes, it reflects more infrared back to the receiver, triggering a TTL (Transistor-Transistor Logic) digital output that switches between 5V and 0V on the three-pin header. The eye blink sensor glasses form factor positions the sensor directly in front of the eye for reliable detection during movement.
The infrared eye glasses mount the IR sensor close to the eye at a fixed position. One non-obvious detail — ambient infrared from bright overhead lights can shift the baseline sensitivity, causing missed or false detections. Strong direct light sources near the face are the main honest limitation. Need to shield the sensor from overhead fluorescent lights in classroom or lab environments. The eye blink sensor goggles connect to Arduino and ESP32 digital pins through the three-pin header directly. Usefull for Electronics students and assistive technology project builders use it regularly. To start, connect VCC to 5V, GND to GND, and signal to a digital interrupt pin. StemVolt provides goggles tested with confirmed output on each blink.
