The IR Wireless Remote Control Module Kit uses IR (Infrared, a light wavelength invisible to the human eye) to send button press data from a handheld transmitter to a receiver module. The ir wireless remote control works at distances up to 8 meters, which covers most indoor room-to-room distances. The receiver outputs a digital signal that any microcontroller reads through a standard GPIO (General Purpose Input Output) pin on 3.3V to 5V DC supply.
The infrared wireless remote control uses NEC protocol (a standard IR signal format most microcontrollers decode easily using a library). One non-obvious detail — IR signals reflect off walls and ceilings, so the remote works even when aimed at an indirect angle toward the receiver.
The infrared wireless remote connects with Arduino IDE environments through one digital input pin. Students and makers use in electronics project to add wireless control to their builds. To start, connect the receiver VCC to 5V, GND to GND, and signal to a digital pin, then decode button presses using the IRremote library. StemVolt provide kit with both the remote and receiver module ready to use.
