The KY-025 Magnetic Reed Switch Sensor Module detects nearby magnetic fields, providing both digital switching output (0 and 1) and analog output, operating from 3.3V to 5V DC. The reed switch sensor at the heart of this module is a sealed glass tube containing two thin ferromagnetic contacts that physically bend together and touch when a magnet comes close, completing the circuit — this mechanical switching action requires no power at all; only the LM393-based comparator circuitry on the KY-025 board needs power to convert the switch state into a clean digital signal.

The ky 025 reed switch module’s digital output gives a simple HIGH/LOW signal when a magnet enters or leaves detection range, ideal for door and window open/close sensors, security alarm triggers, and reed-switch based RPM counting where a magnet attached to a rotating wheel triggers the reed switch once per revolution. The magnetic reed switch sensor’s analog output, less commonly used, can give a graduated reading useful for distinguishing different magnet proximity distances rather than just a binary trigger. As a ky025 reed sensor, the onboard LM393 comparator allows adjusting detection sensitivity via the threshold potentiometer.
