The LM35D Analog Temperature Sensor Module measures temperature by outputting an analog voltage (a continuously varying electrical signal) that increases by exactly 10 millivolts for every 1 degree Celsius rise in temperature. The lm35 analog temperature sensor runs on 4V to 30V DC at just 60µA current consumption, which is low enough to power from a single Arduino 5V pin without a dedicated power circuit.
The lm35 sensor module outputs a linear voltage that the ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) inside Arduino reads through the analog input pin. One non-obvious detail — the LM35D is calibrated in Celsius only and cannot read below 0°C in its basic single-supply circuit. Long cables between the sensor and the Arduino pick up electrical interference and distort the analog signal, causing temperature jumps of 1°C to 3°C in electrically noisy environments.
The lm35 analog temperature sensor module connects to Arduino and ESP32 through standard three-wire connections using the attached cable. Weather station builders, and robotics project makers use it. StemVolt provide this module tested for confirmed 10mV per degree output at room temperature.
