The mpu6050 accelerometer is a 6-DOF (degrees of freedom) sensor — combining 3-axis gyroscope plus 3-axis accelerometer data, but without the magnetometer found in the newer MPU-9250, making it the simpler predecessor module for projects that don’t need compass heading.
