The HC-SR505 Mini PIR Motion Sensor Module detects infrared changes from moving people or objects within a range of up to 3 metres and outputs a digital HIGH signal on detection. The mini pir sensor runs on 4.5V to 20V, so it works with battery packs and regulated Arduino power lines equally. Its 10mm lens is small enough to mount inside enclosures with a single drilled hole.
The hc sr505 mini motion sensor has a fixed sensitivity and no adjustable potentiometers, unlike larger PIR modules. That is the key trade-off. A non-obvious detail is that the HC-SR505 enters a retriggering mode by default, so it holds the output HIGH for as long as motion continues, not just a fixed time window.
Students, security hobbyists, and compact device makers use the mini pir motion sensor with Arduino IDE or MicroPython over a single GPIO. StemVolt ships this ready to wire.
