The Load Cell Weight Sensor Module uses the HX711 chip (a precision 24-bit ADC and amplifier designed for load cell signals) to convert the tiny voltage from a load cell (a sensor that outputs a small voltage proportional to the weight placed on it) into a readable digital value. The hx711 amplifier module has two input channels and runs on 5V to 10V DC at under 1.5mA during normal operation.

The hx711 load cell amplifier communicates with Arduino using only two GPIO pins via a proprietary serial interface (not standard I2C or SPI). One non-obvious detail — the HX711 samples at either 10Hz or 80Hz depending on the RATE pin setting. At 10Hz the readings are more stable; at 80Hz they update faster but with slightly more noise. The honest limitation is that the module needs a proper tare (zeroing) routine before each use. The hx711 module connects to Arduino and ESP32through two digital GPIO pins. To start, connect the load cell to channel A and use the HX711 Arduino library. StemVolt provide this module tested for confirmed weight reading output.
