The KY-036 Metal Touch Sensor Module detects human touch on an exposed metal probe using the LM393 comparator IC. When a finger contacts the metal tip, the circuit registers a capacitive change and the LM393 switches the digital output on the DO pin. The touch sensor runs on 3.3V to 5V DC and outputs both an analog signal on AO and a digital 0 or 1 on DO simultaneously.
The metal touch sensor module has dimensions of 4.3 x 1.6 x 1.5 cm and a 4-pin header with AO, G, plus, and DO. A non-obvious detail is that the metal probe detection relies on the human acting as a capacitive path to ground. If your project operates inside an isolated plastic enclosure where the user cannot form a ground path, the sensor will not trigger reliably regardless of touch.
Students and touch-activated project makers use the ky 036 touch sensor module with Arduino IDE and MicroPython using digitalRead on DO or analogRead on AO. StemVolt provides this sensor with trusted quality, ensuring reliable performance.
