The TTP226 8-Channel Capacitive Touch Pad Sensor provides 8 independent touch-sensing channels with an onboard 8-way LED indicator, operating from 2.2V to 5.5V, with 8mA sink current and 4mA output pin pull-up current. The 8 channel touch sensor detects touch using capacitive sensing rather than mechanical contact — when a finger touches a copper pad, it changes the local capacitance, which the chip detects and reports as a touch event, with no physical button or moving parts involved.

The ttp226 touch pad sensor offers two response speed modes that trade response time against power consumption — a low power mode responding within 220ms suited for battery-powered designs where power savings matter more than instant feedback, and a high power mode responding within 60ms for applications needing snappier touch response. This 8 channel capacitive touch sensor’s onboard LED for each channel gives immediate visual confirmation of which pad was touched, useful for both debugging and as a built-in user feedback indicator.

A ttp226 touch sensor, capacitive pads can be less reliable when touched with gloved hands or in very humid conditions compared to mechanical buttons, since capacitive sensing depends on detecting the finger’s natural capacitance change.
