The TTP226 8-Channel Capacitive Touch Pad Sensor detects finger touch on eight separate conductive pads using capacitance change and outputs a digital signal per channel. Each pad works independently, so touching pad 3 triggers only output 3 without affecting the others. The 8 channel touch sensor runs on 2.2V to 5.5V, covering every common microcontroller supply voltage.
The ttp226 touch sensor includes an on-board 8-way level indicator with LEDs showing which pad is active. A non-obvious detail is that the sensor has two power modes. In high power mode, response time drops to 60ms for faster interaction. In low power mode it extends to 220ms but draws significantly less current between detections. The limitation is that you cannot adjust sensitivity from firmware since it is set by hardware resistors on the board.
Students, UI panel builders, and hobbyists use the touch capacitive sensor arduino projects with Arduino IDE and a simple digitalRead per channel. StemVolt ships this module with pads pre-labelled and ready to wire.
