ISD1820 Voice Audio Recording and Playback Module

The ISD1820 Voice Audio Recording and Playback Module records up to 10 seconds of audio using the onboard ISD1820 IC and plays it back on demand without any microcontroller in the loop. Press the record button, speak into the onboard microphone, and the audio gets stored in non-volatile memory on the chip itself. The isd1820 voice recorder runs on 3V to 5V DC and connects a loudspeaker directly through the 20cm speaker cable.

The isd1820 module stores audio in a ChipCorder cell inside the IC, not on an SD card or external flash. A non-obvious limitation is that each new recording overwrites the previous one completely. There is no file system and no way to store multiple clips simultaneously. The loudspeaker is not included in the box and must be 8 Ohm at 0.5W maximum to avoid overloading the output stage.
